  • Phew......That Was A Bad One......and Jennifer Love Hewitt's Breasts

Oh dear, I went all a bit funny yesterday.

Some top london doc may call it depression but I prefer calling it 'getting stuck.'

It's been a while since I last got stuck. I think being in a loving relationship with some-one who is so (irritatingly) laid-back, so (annoyingly) positive and see's nothing but happy in every situation (you know, some-one the total opposite to me - and he's marrying this ) that makes being stuck pointless. Now, if only I could have thought this yesterday and avoided laying in bed all day...............

I did manage to get up to watch Ghost Whisperer though. This is an amazing series staring Jennifer Love Hewitt, who's character has the ability to talk to the dead and she helps solve their problems and shoves them 'into the light.'

What's amazing about this is that you'd think that running about after and being barged about by ghosts this would leave the average joe a bit sweaty and a bit unkempt.....not Hewitt though, Oh no! She manages to keep her silky blown-out hair and professional-looking make-up in perfect condition throughout all the while changing outfits 4 times through the day ensuring that her breasts are the main focus of each shot (unless it's a sad scene - the sombre polo-neck comes out).

I shall admit, If I was gay, I'd be a professional JLH stalker. Man, she's pretty..........Sod it, gay or not when's the next flight to the US????

  • Asthma

    Asthma is in full flow.

We went over to the fella's dad's for some afternoon tea and to catch up with his family (his older brother lives in france and has brought over his family for the holidays) So, it was lovely and we had a laugh but they have four dogs and it doesn't take long for the nose to start running and the heavy breathing to begin (and not the good kind of heavy breathing either).

So we have returned home and 4 puffs of ventolin later and I'm not any better. And my head has started to hurt.

  • Chicken - Not Turkey. That's Right!!

Well, we had a lovely 'quiet one.' We had chicken instead of turkey, why? Because we prefer it and because this is our Christmas Day and can eat whatever bird we like. Poultry kind that is.

Anyhoo, Chicken - check, Home-made Roast Pots - check, Broccoli (that's right no sprouts in this house) - check, Onion Sage Stuffing (not home-made) - check, Yorkshire Puds - check, Bisto Christmas Stylee - check. Not as good as what mummy makes obviously, but I think we did a damn fine job.

The fella got me Sudoku for the DS - which I've been wanting for ages - and Donkey Kong - damn that ape's annoyingly addictive. Got to watch Eastenders in peace this year and was very shocked when Tanya fell down the stairs. Saw Finding Nemo for the first time - what a beautiful film - although I thought the start was a bit of a harsh lesson.

(Feel a bit sad that I can't be with the folks and everyone this year. Phoned home yesterday and my mum had gone to church, my brothers had got up to unwrap presents then went back to bed, my dad said the house smelt of ham and turkey.....business as usual and I missed it for 5 hours in work on Monday)

I don't remember Boxing Day TV being so rubbish. Sudoku it is then.

  • What A Waste Of Time

Well, what a bloody waste of time that was.

5 hours in work and there was hardly anything to do.....with an almost full team in as well!! Im really glad I'm missing Christmas with the folks for those 5 hours. :##

Still, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation is on in bit yee-haa!!!

  • New Things Continued - Church & Tattoo's

As a continuation of yesterdays new things list i forgot some things:

5 - Go to church......I stopped going to church when I was about 14 but I've been thinking about returning to church for a while....not sure if it's because Im getting older or because I'm getting married and having a minister oversee it is something I would really like or maybe I just want to give it a whirl and see why other people go. My mum's a Christian and every time I go home the sense of community and friendship is overwhelming....but in a good way. I'd really like to have that sense of support in my life.

6 - Get a tattoo (yeah I know church & tattoo's don't really mix but hey, this is my list so why not) The fella turns 30 next year and it's difficult coming up with good presents for him so I thought, he's always talking about how he'd love another tattoo so turning 30 is the perfect opportunity to get him one - plus it's better than buying a DVD. I'd quite like to get rain-clouds with a bit of fog on my shoulder.

I'm sure there's more but I've a few more days until the new year starts to edit the list if needs be.

  • New Things For The New Year

A lot of bloggers have blogged about what they would like to achieve in the new year....so here's mine:

1 - Learn something new - thinking along the lines of dress-making or learning how to bake properly

2 - I'd quite like to get back into acting - the course I took earlier this year wasn't enough really so maybe I'll pluck up the courage to join an am-dram group.

3 - See more of the folks & friends (this is more of an extension as I've sort of started this off this year and has been great)

4 - continued planning of the wedding

I think that's pretty much it. Work's going ok and I'm learning as I go - I've always put work first in the past and it made me miserable and my bosses really didn't appreciate my efforts so my new new thing is to enjoy work but make sure that people come first. That's what I've been doing for the last 6 months of this new job and I'm a lot happier now than when I was last year. :D

  • A Tired Blog Entry

Arrived back after a really lovely few days at home. The t'internet went down so couldn't do any blogging.

Weds we went to see the cake lady to discuss our wedding cake - and to eat a few samples yum - they don't make the cakes until the week before the wedding so this was really to give her the initial ideas and to hand over a deposit. We then went to pick up the forms for the licence - we have to make a decision pretty quickly now between a civil or religious ceremony - I think a (non-extreme) religious ceremony would be really lovely.

We then met the wedding co-ordinator and he was very nice - bit of a talker though. My mum made us Christmas dinner seeing as we'll miss hers on the actual day - there really is nothing like mums cooking.

Today we took the dog for a walk on the beach, looked at some sort of windmill which was closed, had some lunch then went to the airport for a nice delayed plane.

Too tired now - this blog entry isn't all that exciting either. :zz:

  • Markets & Museums

Christmas Markets in Belfast yesterday which are, to my surprise, comprised of the same markets that are on in Sheffield throughout the year - there must some sort of 'circuit.' A french stall caught on fire and they weren't best pleased when the local media came hunting for an exclusive. Needless to say the big scoop was 'pan over-heats.'

Today we went to the Ulster Folk Museum where they have re-created an entire town (churches, bank, houses etc) with the original brick work etc for places all over NI dating back a hundred years or so. This is an excellent day out - but I would recommend visiting in the summer because it was flippin freezing today. Its a 2-3 hour visit and well worth the £5.50 (£3.50 if you're an oap/student).

  • Going Home For A Nice Little Break (Plus A Small Rant)

Flying home tonight to spend a bit of time with the folks (and sort out some wedding stuff) seeing as I won't get the chance over the actual christmas period because of work. Looking forward to it really, it'll be a nice distraction from everything that has happened in the last few weeks and it'll be nice not having to make decisions like what we're having for tea etc etc.

I must say this though, and it's something that gets up my nose everytime, I work with this person who seems to have a lot going for them but moans like an absolute b*stard about everything they don't have. Take this christmas, she reckons there is no possible way she can get home for the christmas period - absolutley impossible - this is a mission even tom cruise would wrinkle his face at. She lives in London. Not the Baden Baden. London. It takes roughly 4 hours to get there - I know this because I (and my friends who live there ) have travelled countless times to see each other and it has never taken much longer than that.

Now, the girl I work with insists it takes longer and there is no possible way for her to see her family at Christmas. B*llocks. I HAVE NO POSSIBLE WAY OF SEEING MY FAMILY OVER THE CHRISTMAS PERIOD!!!!!! GAh! It's not as if I can go to the Plane Station, you know the one next to the train station, and hop onto the 6:03 to Belfast!!! or maybe the 7:03 - because they come hourly you know.

In other news Rupert Everett called Al Pacino a mad old freak - what an arse, I am no longer going to see that st trinians which looked promising.

  • Who Else Is Being Made To Work Both Eve's???

Well, my 6 months probation is up (do companies really take much notice of these?) and I am now a full member of staff which means I can bitch and moan without fear of the sack. However, as we are newbies (there are about 20 of us brand new) we didn't realise that christmas holidays were on a first come basis so it means all the old staff have booked it all off!

To make matters worse we are allowed to leave work at 1pm on both eve's (that's not a problem) but they expect us to make up the time! It used to be a perk of the job that folk got to leave early but not where I work. So, Ive done 3 12 hour shifts and a 7and a half hr shift this week - I still have 3.25 hrs to make up in the new year as well.

Gah! So I have taken today to read books, renew my library books online and generally lie under my blanky in the living room. Ah bliss.

  • Hot Brownie and Boxing

Had a really pleasant saturday night. The Italian was very posh and I had chicken stuffed with some fancy cheese and spinach with baby potatoes (I know its not very Italian but their pasta selection wasnt exactly plentiful - they didn't even have spag bol!! or anything that resembled it) Their hot chocolate brownie and ice-cream though was amazing. It was great and so was the company but I don't think we'll go back there....my heart really lies in Chinese and Thai.

After the Italian we went to my favourite pub then back to the flat for our marathon staying up quest for the boxing. The fella's brothers wife went to bed a little after 12 and I wimped off at 1am. Oh well, by all accounts it wasn't worth staying up for anyway as our man lost. The boys managed to stay up for it though.

  • A Busy Week

It's been a busy week. The funeral was on Tuesday and I think a lot of people did very well indeed. There were lots of tears of course but it really is best to get it out.

I've been a bit weepy since and although I only had two days left at work I really couldn't wait until thursday evening when I could relax and rest a bit. I've had the cold since wednesday so I'm feeling pretty run down at the minute. Looking forward to going home and seeing my parents next week.

Paid for half of my wedding dress on Friday - so thats it, no going back now!!8|

We bought a wee christmas tree today and he's sat in the corner looking gorgeous and sparkly.

Tonight the fella's brother and his wife are coming round and we're off out for an Italian and a couple of drinks then back to the flat for the boxing. Yeah, I know it doesn't really kick off until 4am but we're going to try very hard to stay up.....oh, who am I kidding I'll be asleep by 12!!

  • Thank God I Had My Good Underwear On

    It's been a better Saturday.

My pals came up (traveling from London in the torrential rain so didn't arrive until midnight) and we went to just the one wedding dress shop that I had booked. It was quite an experience standing in the changing rooms in my underwear in front of a complete stranger. |-|

Gave myself a mental high-five for having the good judgement of putting my good underwear on......and that I had a shave.

Anyway, I picked out 6 dresses and I think I've found what folk call 'the one'. Already. It was the first one I tried on and well, everything else I tried just didn't match up. It's only a smidge more expensive than my sisters so will have to try and sell it to my da. I think he will be ok with it. If not then I can pay the extra for it.
