  • Who Packs A Suitcase In Case They MIGHT Go To Hospital??? My Mum, That's Who!

Back now from my weekend at home.

Highlight was sitting with my mum when she said, "See that suitcase? I've packed it with a dressing gown, towel and underwear for when I go into hospital."

I sit bolt upright, panic rising, "What??? When are you going into hospital?"

"Oh, I'm not," says she, "It's just there in case I get ill and need to go in."

I am now puzzled, "Won't da know what to bring in the, unlikely, event of you going into hospital any time soon?"

"Oh your daddy won't know what to get, besides it's all brand new."

  • Old Friends & Picture Houses

Well, even though the fella pissed me off I had an ok day.

I met up with an old friend (some-one who I hadn't seen for at least 12 years) round at her house and for some weird reason we were both a bit nervous. But we blethered on so much that when my da phoned me at an hour and 20 mins later it felt as if I'd only just got there. It was fantastic catching up again and it was like we were back at school except better as we're now all grown up and all that palaver.

My folks picked me up at 12 for mother-of-the-bride dress shopping. :-/
When it comes to shopping, a supposed favourite hobby of the female species, I am more akin to the male counterpart. If there's something I need, I'll go get it - none of this faffing about 20 different shops looking at nothing in particular just because there is a sale on. So, I wasn't looking forward to it. Fortunately my mum got a bit tired and only went into 3 shops (an absolute miracle and very unheard of for her!!) I think she was overwhelmed by the new shopping centre in Belfast - she was practically salivating at all the different shops, restaurants and they even had a cinema (or picture-house as she put it) :))

Haven't stopped all week and haven't got much sleep either. Hopefully I'll be able to have a lie-in (the first this week) tomorrow. I'll have to give it another one of these :zz: and maybe one of these

    Nighty night.

  • Fed Up Talking About The Wedding

Over visiting the folks. Appointment this morning, early, at the venue. Luckily there was a wedding on and we got to see how it'll be set out for our do in December. It's all very cosy and intimate which just suits us fine.

We were supposed to meet the Reverend at 12 in Belfast but 45 minutes later and he hadn't turned up. We were getting worried that he had an accident or something but then I got annoyed thinking he had forgotten all about it. So we traipsed all the way back to our wee village - the fella forgot his mobile phone so we couldn't phone him. So anyway, we phone him at 2pm and he said he'd come all the way down to see us instead.

Annoyed. No explanation. But, he's such a lovely bloke I forgave him - and he did forget us. He said he remembered last night, then remembered first thing this morning, then something happened between then and 12 and he remembered at 1.30ish whilst he was in the library that he should have finished talking to us an hour ago. Never mind. He doesn't want payment for the wedding - I am sure this has nothing to do with him forgetting about us but that was very nice of him.

Just got back from the flower lady - who looked like a character from Harry Potter. White roses and berries and shit......all talked out here and very tired. :zz: Cannot blog anymore today. Goodnighty. :zz:

  • And It's Another Boy

The second baby has arrived. A little boy is all the info I have at the mo. My friend went into labour on Friday morning, was 'getting into the birthing pool' 24 hours later and, I'm not sure if he arrived this morning or what, but he is here. Got a bit worried there probably because my sisters birth was so quick I half expect all deliveries to go that way. More news when I get it.

Almost got all the invites done. I'm just waiting for my mother to get back from her travels so she can give me the addresses of her friends that are coming. We've set up a wedding list with Debenhams and we got to go round the store yesterday with one of those guns picking out what we fancied like we're middle class or something. This wasn't has fun as I thought it would be. Got annoyed with it so have only got a few items listed. Got home and realised the girl who registered us got my email address wrong so we can't add any more items online. Bloody hassle.

Sending off our booking for the DJ as well today. Must get onto the list of songs we want playing. :-/

  • Oh It's Cold This Sunday

Spent yesterday visiting dad-in-law and very pregnant sis-in-law.

The former has bought a very cute bungalow in a small cul-de-sac area. Very quiet, surrounded by similar looking bungalows with simliar aged occupants. It's really time for him to move on as the house he currently has is way too big for him. He never goes upstairs as there are only 2 bedrooms up there, neither of which he sleeps in. The garden, which was my mum-in-laws project, is now far too big for him to maintain, or to really care about maintaining. So, all being well he and dogs Ricky and Molly should be moved in by September.

My sis-in-law STILL looks great despite having a HUGE bump to carry around. She's got about 3 weeks to go. My friend is due on Tuesday and I have a little wager on with my other friend on what it is going to be and when it will be born. I am sure there are various moral codes we are breaking here betting on our good friend but for the life of me I can't fathom them out.

Oh, and it's bloody cold today.

  • Work & Wedding Dress

Well, we had a meeting of sorts in work where we asked about the redundancies that have been happening and our future as a department. The answer was "We don't know what's happening." Which is great if you're not bothered about working there and plan to move on. >:(

So, I have decided that I'm going to enjoy every day that I'm there and put together a portfolio of work. I've got quite a good one already but I would like some more big pieces in there. I got to do a bit of magazine page-layout stuff which my boss was really happy with and will look great against the rest of the stuff I have produced.....should I need to move on.

2nd fitting today of the wedding dress. Still fits despite me putting on a couple of pounds here and there. An inch or so to come off the straps and about 7 inches off the bottom - no surprise there as I could have auditioned to be an ewok......well, not really. I am very excited. People keep saying how calm I'm being which is all down to the magnificent list on the wall. Without the list, I don't think I would be as serene. Which reminds me, I've to print off the invites this weekend.
    :D

  • More Damn Lists

Ah. Made an extensive 'what we need to do' list for the wedding in less than 4 months 8|

I've stuck all 2 pages of it on the wall with blue-tac. So, I now feel better about the whole thing. Much to do still but stuff that has time on its side like the table setting and thank you cards. My list is a little longer than the fellas. I have hair trial, make-up trial, hair accessories, wax, fake tan or no fake tan....it goes on. The fellas list is: Shoes & ring. That's it. >:XX

Midsomer Murders on tonight though after a break last week so am very, very excited.

  • Bloody Job

Well, I've decided to go against my natural urges by seeing the POSITIVE side to all this damn whispering in work.

Firstly, I still have a full time job, no-one important has actually said anything to change that.

Secondly, even if we end up transferring at least I know how to get there, know my way round the building, know people that work there, I will be there doing a job I enjoy as opposed to the shitty soul-destroying job I had before and I will be with those that I work with now - yes the travel will be a bastard again, but I've done it before so know the quickest route - also I can always cut costs by car-sharing.

Thirdly, it has spurred me on to apply for other jobs - there are a couple of jobs I have seen that might be interesting so I'm going to apply for them today (I don't WANT to but I would rather deaden the blow of any bad news early than panicking that I've no-where to go in the event of redundancy)

There was an article on Richard & Judy that women get grumpier as they get older - much more so than men. Whilst I have been holding my own in the grumpier-woman-as-i-get-older stakes, this positivity about my future is a total curve-ball as they say in the US. I don't know what's happening to me. I must be happy. 8|

In other news, we've been talking about having a baby (only really because of the baby boom that my family is having at the mo) & 2010 might be a nice round number to try. I'll be 33 then which I think is a good solid age. Who knows.

  • Anxious Times

So much weird stuff going on at work that I don't really want to think about never mind write about it. Whispering of redundancy/transfering to another centre (which happens to be the very same hell hole I left) everywhere but none of the managers seem to want to fill us in. So, I'm not talking about it until I know what's what. These are anxious times :-/

Sold a pair of slippers on ebay for £2.55 - I am rich beyond me wildest dreams!!
Made a few friends from the wedding there and added them onto my facebook account. Feels good.

    No, too anxious to write.............U-(

  • Weddings & Baby

Ok, so I wore the dress. I decided that it was just too nice a dress to take back to the shop and besides I chucked a black vest under there which defused the cleavage problem a bit. Although by the end of the night I needn't have bothered as I was a bit too tipsy to care what my breasts were doing.

It was a lovely wedding - got some ideas for my own do. Starting to get excited by ours hopefully some of the people that came to the wedding yesterday will be able to make it over to NI. I hardly knew anybody there so I was feeling awkward for most of it - the damn whisky shandies weren't having any effect whatsoever - but I relaxed maybe an hour before the end and managed to get the fella up for last dance.....he definitely needs lessons.

Some dickhead thought that a great conversation starter was to discuss the IRA with me. At a wedding. Lets just say he spent the rest of the time talking to my back.

Saw some pic's of my nephew. He's got really dark eyes (unless that was just the lighting) but he's very cute and little. I bought him a tigger outfit that comes with a tigger hat with ears. I'd like to think this is babys first party outfit!
