  • Wendy Richard

    Wendy Richard died today.

I've watched Eastenders since it began and Pauline Fowler was always one of my favourite characters. Probably because she appealed to the fellow grump in me ;) and I was devastated when she was written out of the show - one of the last original characters to go.

Do you know she was married 4 times and her recent hubby is 20 years younger than her. What a girl ;)

  • Molten Chocolate Babycake Recipe

Here we are. Only made this once. What you needs is:

    6 individual pudding moulds
    Buttered baking parchment
    50g plain flour
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 large eggs, beaten with a pinch of salt
    150g caster sugar
350g best dark choc (although I thought it was a bit too dark so Milk would probably do)
    50g unsalted butter

Lay the moulds on the baking parchment and draw round them - cut out the circles and insert into the bottom of the pudding mould.

Melt the choc (in a pyrex dish over a pan of water type stylee) and then let it cool slightly. Whilst the choc is cooling cream together the butter and sugar and gradually beat in the eggs and salt and vanilla. Now add the flour and when its all blended lovely, scrape in the cooled choc, blending it into a smooth batter.

Chuck it all into the moulds and bake in 200 degree C/gas mark 6 for 10-12 mins (the extra 2 mins is there if you have left them in the fridge to cook later rather than immediately) When they're done you're supposed to delicately put them on a plate - I found this tricky, so good luck with that bit.

Think that all makes sense. Dead easy. Oh, serve with whipped cream, ice cream or whatever. :)

Here's a closer screenshot of my featured blog. :))

  • Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeek I Am Featured!!

    I am a featured blog. :))

I am sure this means nothing but it gave me a lovely feeling seeing my wee potato head staring out of the front page of blog.co.uk. Especially since I had to take today off work because of these damn cramps. Me thinks I will need a new type of pain killer.

This all bloody well be worth it.

    EDIT
    It's small but it's there.

  • Menstrual Carnage

    Rarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Cramping like a menace. Left work a half hour early for the safety of the staff. Who knows what menstrual carnage would have been unleashed if I had stayed until the finish.

    Rarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Again. This hurts!!!!!!!!!!!!! :##

  • Babycake Success

    The babycakes stood up.

And were molten. Although the dark choc I used was far too dark for me so I didn't eat it all. I think I'll try it with milk choc next time - or certainly a mixture of dark and milk.

We had a really amazing day/night. And that's all I'm willing and able to say ;)

Training in work started yesterday and there is a whole lot to take in so I hope I can get a proper grasp of it when I start doing it myself.

Er.......nothing else to say but I am cramping and would like some time off work.

  • Vals Day

    Happy Vals Day.

Will be attempting Molten Chocolate Babycakes later. :-/

We've decided to cook a 3 course meal tonight.

Starter: Buffallo Mozzarella Bruschetta thingy with chilli
Main: Red Thai Chicken Curry & Lemon Grass Rice
Pudding: The Babycakes with ice cream

I know I can make the bruschetta as I have done it before and, lets face it, is basically cheese on toast. I already make a wicked chicken curry so I am confident that the Thai curry will be doable. It's just these flippin babycakes. I have to buy a pyrex dish and the pudding moulds today - the recipe looks fairly simple so I just hope I can do them without them collapsing. 8|

  • Worked Out Better Than Expected

Had my meeting yesterday with my boss about all this new position thing.

Turns out she wants me to work 2 days a week with one team and the other 2 days with my current team. This means I get best of both worlds. My dilemma was that I didn't want to give up on all the creative stuff that I've been doing for the last 18 months to go do more technical stuff even though I enjoy the technical stuff just as much. Anyway, I get to do both. Hopefully it also means that if any redundancy business comes around again I may be seen as too indispensable to the company. Hopefully. ;)

I actually can't believe that I have got what I wanted from work. This has never happened to me before. I am used to empty promises when it comes to work and have had to learn to adapt to disappointment and lies from managers. So, I'm pretty chuffed. :P

Training starts on Monday. Oh, I accepted!! :))

  • Life Imitating Blog

    I'm getting a sense of deja-vu. 8|

Like one of my good blog friends, I have been offered another job within my company and have only until tomorrow to give my decision. :-/

It's in the same department, with the same boss, so I won't be going anywhere, but some-one has resigned and I was asked if I would like to fill the position. First reaction was 'No, way, don't do change!" But the more I thought about it, I thought it's probably going to be a bit more secure compared to where I am working now.

It's been over 2 months since the redundancies and nothing has changed workload wise. I have never been more bored, depressed, insecure about the future and just down right fed up since then. I want the job I had 6 months ago - but that is long gone with little chance of seeing a return to those glory days.

I have a few questions which I will ask tomorrow but as long as my hours don't change then I think I will accept.

  • Headless Howard Is Headless No More

    Howard's head has regenerated!!!

And it came complete with a snow-hat!

So it snowed like a swine this morning. We got to go home an hour early again which is a bonus seeing as it's now my weekend. I get to stay indoors tomorrow reading my book and staring out at our lovely snowman. Ah it's been freezing but my pink polka dot wellies have been a triumph. :P

  • Russell Brand & Headless Howard

    Russell Brand is rudey-pops.

    Now I fancy him.

A total narcissist though (self confessed I might add) - his whole routine focused on himself which was hilarious but you can't relate to his stories of renting a house in Hollywood and acting with Helen Mirren. Talked a lot about sex. Unsurprisingly.

Howard - or Headless Howard as we are now calling him - as yet to have his head restored. Liverpool are playing tonight so the fella is otherwise engaged with that. Poor, poor Howard.

  • Poor Howard

Woke up this morning and our new addition is headless. :-/

It looks as if it has just come off by itself - hopefully it was suicide rather than a decapitation from one of the neighbours!!

We're off to see Russell Brand tonight so he'll have to remain that way till we get home. :(

  • SSSSSSNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!

    How snowy is it? 88|

We've got about 6 inches - it's crazy. The tram was ram-packed but the tram conductor was still attempting to take fares. Mad.

And I got to go home an hour early yiippeee!! :b
